Threads of Time

On January 10, 2025, the North Delta Arts Centre for Arts was filled with energy, culture, and connection as Threads of Time: A Cultural Journey Through Generations brought together youth and seniors to celebrate the evolution of Punjabi culture. This event aimed to foster understanding and unity through art, performance, and conversation. The day was packed with highlights that left everyone feeling inspired and connected:

  • Performances from PM Gidha and SFU Bhangra, bringing the audience to their feet with mesmerizing traditional dances.

  • An enlightening speech by guest speaker Michael Bains, who shared powerful insights into the importance of cultural preservation and intergenerational connections.

  • Presentations on cultural objects (created in class) from PMSS youth and GenConnect seniors, showcasing traditional items like Pakhi, Jhanjra, Phulkari, and other cultural artifacts, creating a bridge between generations.

  • A raffle draw supported by PMSS, adding excitement and an extra layer of community spirit to the day.

  • Free food, allowing everyone to bond over the tastes and flavors of our shared heritage.

This showcase wasn’t just about presenting culture—it was about learning, growing, and connecting with our community. We had so much to learn from each other, and the event truly reflected the power of coming together across generations.
