While GenConnect calls Surrey home, our community reach stretches far beyond city limits. We’ve proudly engaged youth and seniors across the entire Metro Vancouver area, creating programs and experiences that resonate across the Punjabi culture and generations. Our collaborations span even wider, connecting us with incredible partners from Vancouver, Richmond, Victoria, Paldi, Abbotsford and more.

GenConnect isn’t just a local initiative — it’s a growing movement bringing communities together across BC.

What We Do

GenConnect makes a positive impact in senior and youth lives through engaging collaborative learning opportunities. Youth leaders at GenConnect sparks intergenerational connections by providing meaningful leadership opportunities where seniors and youth can exchange cultural, traditional, or practical forms of knowledge.

Cultural Showcase

Dec 4th

GenConnect’s 2nd Cultural Showcase brought together students from 4 Surrey high schools and GenConnect seniors to exchange cultural and traditional knowledge. Seniors visited the students several times throughout the semester to support and guide their creation of cultural artifacts, traditional crafts, dance, poetry, song, skits, and more. On Dec 4, we hosted a vibrant celebration of Punjabi art, music, and intergenerational connection featuring the work of over 300 students. The event highlighted how culture can foster belonging and community pride. It also demonstrated GenConnect’s mission in action, creating spaces where youth and seniors collaborate, learn from one another, and strengthen cultural continuity for generations to come.
